Alexandra Rose Raisman Bio

Alexandra Rose Raisman, born May 25 1994 was an American retired gymnast who was an artistic. She was twice Olympian. She was the leader of the 2012 "Fierce Five", and 2016 "Final Five,"" U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastics team. She was awarded a gold team medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Gabby Douglas and Raisman are the only Americans who have won back-to-back gold medals at this event. Raisman also won silver medals for individual all-around, as well as for the floor exercise. Raisman also took home silver medals in the individual all-around as well as for floor exercise. She is also the two-time champion of the national championships of floor exercise (2012,2015) and the 2012 national champion on the balance beam, and five times medalist at the national championships for all around (silver in 2016, and silver in 2011, 2012 (2012), and in 2012, 2011, and. She was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Raisman was born on May 25, 1994 in Needham, Massachusetts to Lynn Faber (nee Faber), who was a former high-school gymnast, and Rick Raisman. She has three younger siblings: Brett, Chloe, and Madison. Raisman, who is Jewish and has stated that she is extremely proud in being able not only to represent the United States of America, but as well as the Jewish community all over the world. Raisman began gymnastics at age 18 months. She attributes her early enthusiasm for the sport to the "Magnificent Seven", the gold-medal winning U.S. women's team at the 1996 Summer Olympics, whose performances she saw on VHS.She was a student at Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing through Level 8 when she moved to Brestyan's American Gymnastics Club under coaches Mihai and Silvia Brestyan. Raisman graduated from Needham High School in 2012, after completing her senior year with online classes while training to compete in the Olympics.
