Pollyanna McIntosh

Pollyanna McIntosh is from Scotland. She was raised in Portugal, Colombia and then returned to Scotland. It was here that she began performing on stage at The Edinburgh Festival. After 16 she moved to London and soon found herself involved in the indie filmmaking (her first paid gig was as an actor in Irvine Welsh's The Acid House (1998)) and theatre, both as an actress and director. In 2004, her move to Los Angeles in 2004 led to more stage work. She directed Anne Dudek (a regular star on Mad Men/Big Love (2006)) as along with David Dayan Fisher (a regular part on 24 (2001/NCIS 2003)) to rave reviews. In Headspace (2005), she was offered her first US film role as "Stacy" who was a manipulative, born-again Christian. She was then cast as "Thumper Wint", a unorthodox, born-again, Christian in Sex and Death 101 (2006) (Simon Baker/Winona Rider) as played by Heathers (1988). The reviewers were impressed by her distinctive combination of power sexuality and irreverent humor. Exam (2009), which she worked in London and LA followed. BAFTA-nominated for Outstanding British Debut and winner at the Santa Barbara Film Fest of Best Independent, Pollyanna's performance was "smart and sassy" in equal parts the emotional core of the film" as well as her ability to see the "emotional vulnerability” of her spirited and tough character. GQ simply said "stunning Pollyanna McIntosh is an extraordinarily talented actress". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ), is a South American comedy in which she plays the unhappy wife of Trevor Lock, a Brit comedian. She speaks Spanish throughout the film, which was shot in Peru. John Landis directed Burke and Hare (2010). She is Isla Fisher’s bestie, along with Andy Serkis and Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry, and Tom Wilkinson. Her dramatic turn as the main character in Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011) made shock waves at Sundance 2011. The film received great reviews and took the top spot in the New York Times readers' preferred films poll. She was awarded three Best Actress nominations, including Total Film’s Frightfest Award as well as Fright Meter’s.
